Last Friday night I had a wonderful consultation with another client for 2014, as I rode the train home from Waterloo I was brimming over with excitement. 2013 has been just amazing, with so many incredible brides and grooms photographed and some great new friends made along the way. As I put the key in the lock to my home I had no idea what was laying on the doormat on the other side.

Opening the envelope and reading through Catherine & Daniels words just took me back to that crisp day in September. Weddings in York City Centre are incredible things. There’s just so much to photograph that leaps out at you, the city walls, York Minster, the crowds of Stonegate, not to mention the wedding venue itself, the stunning Merchant Taylors Hall. Having lived for five years in York it’s my second home so any opportunity to go back is jumped at.

Catherine & Daniel’s words below describe their day far better than I ever could but a few things really hit me. Catherine’s Mum buttoning her into her wedding dress that she had handmade herself, high kicking Irish dancing, Black Sheep Beer and lashings of Ginger Beer. Every wedding should have at least one of these elements!

A special thank you should go to both of them for being so laid back and fun, so giving with their knowledge of this incredible city and being game for anything that we threw at them both on their wedding day and their Pre Wedding Shoot in Whitby. Anyway, over to Catherine & Daniel and the story of their wedding day…

“Firstly, apologies for the late arrival of this card. There has been a lot to catch up on since we finally came down from “Planet Wedding”!

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for everything that you did for us. From that first drink in York through to delivering such beautifully presented photos. Every part of your approach was both professional and incredibly thoughtful. We honestly dont think we could have had such an amazing experience if we hadn’t have booked with you.

Your company throughout the wedding was brilliant. We are both fully aware of how much travelling you had to do to work with us and also of what a busy week you had on the run up to our wedding. Despite this, your energy and enthusiasm throughout the day was second to none and so many people have told us what great company you were.

As well as all of the little touches that make your approach so unique we cant of course forget the photos. Everytime we look at them we live the whole day again. You’ve captured some of the most speciual moments that we otherwise wouldn’t have seen and honestly that is the most pricesless gift that we could have. Our family and friends are also delighted with them and we have been showing the DVD to anyone who comes over to visit.

We’re quite sad that we have now finished working with you as we enjoyed your company so much. Do let us know if you’re in York and fancy meeting for another drink! We both agree that you felt as much like guests at the wedding as much as anything. Wishing you both all the best.

Catherine & Daniel.

P.S Hannah thank you so much for the words of wisdom re makeup!”
