Feels a little like Spring time today and I’m getting a bit carried away and dreaming of summertime already. Which takes me nicely to Esther & Harry and their truly brilliant DIY Farm Wedding last year near their home in Penshurst.
I love luxury, I love all the finer fancy things but I also love mud, being outdoors, camping, dirt under my fingernails and the generally awesome feeling I get when I’ve spent the day in the countryside. Esther & Harry’s wedding had a lot less mud and even less dirt under fingernails but you could absolutely describe their day as charmingly rustic.
They had very obviously worked their socks off to transform a hay barn into a genuinely wonderful wedding reception venue fit for anyone. Packed to the edges with guests it generated an atmosphere with mega buzz.
Before all that I got to do the kind of boyhood adventure stuff that I have to chuckle to myself that it’s my job. I got to ride on the back of a tractor, flapping with bunting, trying to cling on and take pictures whilst the occasional branch clipped the top of my head. Amazing stuff, I absolutely loved it and being in the middle of all these huge smiles and honking cars and traffic as we trundled through the local village was just brilliant and one of my fondest memories of last year.
Another brilliant highlight of last year was seeing all of Esthers classroom children surprise her outside the church with balloons and cheers. Massively cute, really emotional and just a lovely thing to be close to and document.
We had a spectacular day with these two who did it right. They did it their way and put their family and friends right at the top of their “What’s Important To Us” list which makes them brilliant humans as far as we’re concerned. No fuss, no dramas, completely laid back, full of smiling happy faces and obvious love for one another.
Here’s a little rattle through some of our favourites from their ace day.
