So its fair to say that 2016 has had a pretty bad reputation. We’ve lost creative icons, politics has been a heated subject all year long and it’s generally been a fairly gloomy year all around. Yet somehow, in amongst all of that we’ve had the greatest year of our lives. No question. Best. Year. Ever.
Friends we love have tied the knot, others began their family, others extended theirs. We’ve spent precious time with our parents and siblings. We’ve taken time together as a family to eat, drink, laugh and enjoy doing the simple things. We’ve made new friends, we’ve been reacquainted with very old ones that we had lost touch with. I’ve stood shoulder to shoulder with my Dad singing my lungs out watching Bruce Springsteen. I’ve drenched my sister whilst canoeing. We’ve sung the Hello song to George about a gazillion times.

George. The highest of all highlights. Whether he’s smearing his face in peas or shaking his ass to Sir Duke we can’t get enough of the little guy. Although I wasn’t really expecting it, it’s completely undeniable that he’s influenced how we’ve shot this year as well. He’s made us appreciate the everyday that much more, the ordinary moments that may not be “wow” but that make you gently smile for days afterwards. He’s brought out a side in both of us that was waiting to be uncovered and it’s made our photography all the better for it.
Somehow in amongst all of this happiness we’ve managed to shoot over 40 weddings this year. It’s been our best year yet undoubtedly. There are no epic landscapes or backdrops in the post below and no far flung locations this year. Just ordinary people, having an extraordinary day and looking pretty sensational whilst they’re at it. I think its this in a nutshell that has helped us to enjoy this year so much.
We’ve relaxed into our work, we’ve not tried to make huge changes or to match the latest “in” style or trend. We’ve just relaxed and let the river take us. We’ve shot whatever we were drawn to, whatever made us happy right there in that moment and the result has been the most enjoyable year of our lives. We’ve been hugely fortunate to photograph some of the kindest and warmest people we’ve ever known and that they have put their trust in us completely just to do what we do. We were humbled to be nominated for both Rangefinders Rising Stars in the world, as well as Kent Wedding Photographer Of The Year. It’s been a year packed full of highlights.
It’s Georges 1st birthday in just a few days time and it’s Christmas a few days after that. We have plenty to look forward to next year and some big adventures in our lives. If 2017 can be as good as 2016 then I think we’re in for a real treat.
Happy Christmas folks, I hope you love the photos below and a huge thank you for all of your support and friendship this year, you’re the best. Michael, Hannah & George. x

Love the monochrome of the bride cradling the groom’s head during the first dance. And the hand on the groom’s shoulder as the bride is beginning the processional – great capture. Lovely images.
Stunning set of images! Looks like you’ve had an amazing year :) My favourites of yours here are the 3rd photo – Groom with head in his hands. The dog eyeing up the canapés! And the black and white shot of the groom with his fist in the air.
What a gorgeous collection, it looks like you’ve had a fantastic year! And the shot of your son with mushy peas all over his face – brilliant!! Nx

So many stellar images in here! Plenty of favourites, but I particularly love the b&w of grandpa reading to the 2 kids, the old chap with the sparkler, and girl playing rounders, but my favourite of all is George smothered in peas. Beautiful. Happy Christmas to you 3, and look forward to seeing what 2017 brings you.
Loves these photos Michael and Hannah!! Well done!!
The joy is infectious, guys, make me smile so much looking at these! Love that fist-pimp first kiss; what a capture! Cracker of a year.
