This weekend has been CRAZY busy! Three weddings in three days beginning with the simply lovely Kylie and Rakesh and their Bartholomew Barn Wedding on Friday. Arriving at the venue in style in Wilma the vintage VW Camper Van they had the best day you could imagine.
Bartholomew Barn feels like its miles away from anywhere, surrounded by rolling corn fields it really does feel like you have the whole country to yourself. On a day like Friday when the sun is blazing down and gently setting over the tree line it’s pretty spectacular.
As always I get a bit kick out of photographing people, their emotions, tears and laughter. It’s what makes a wedding for me. After the main speeches had finished Kylie decided to get up and say a few words and it nearly set me off. I was happy to be hiding behind my camera right then as I might have had some kind of dust in my eye making them water.
As the day went on and the band got louder the atmosphere was fantastic. At one point I nearly left for the day and as I turned around I saw Kylie, now in her India dress, and all of her friends outside practising for an Indian dance. It would’ve been a crime to have gone home at that point so I hung around and I’m so glad I did as it turned out to be one of my favourite dance off’s of the year!
Kylie & Rakesh: Have an incredible time on your honeymoon. To everyone that was there: Thank you so so much for making me a part of the day, for being so kind and generous, so laid back and generally awesome to photograph. Here’s a little preview of their day…
